WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & ANTI – HARASSMENT CELL
Introduction
Women Empowerment and Anti-Harassment Cell is active in Gnanamani College of Technology to empower and security for female students, to enhance the understanding of issues related to female and to make the college campus a safe place for female students and women staff members. With a view to taking up women’s issues and problems, the cell aims at creating awareness of their safety, rights and duties. The responsibilities of the Women Empowerment and Anti-Harassment Cell are to follow the mandatory guide lines and directions of the Anna University, Chennai and UGC, regarding the security arrangements for female students and women staff of our institution.
Gnanamani college of Technology has established “Women Empowerment & Anti-Harassment Cell “in accordance with the sexual harassment of women at working place (prohibition, prevention and redress)Act 2013. The cell mandate including sensitizing the community towards gender related issues and this regards. The cell provides a forum for discussion and deliberation on a range of issue from empowerment to environment. The goal of cell is to bring about the advancement, development and empowerment of women. The Cell seeks to mould the young women force in the campus to achieve thriving milestones of success in the life. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the students the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through seminars, guest lectures, awareness programmes and other welfare activities.
Objectives
- To promote a respectful ethnicity and gender equality for female students.
- To create a conducive counseling environment for female gender to share their problems.
- To create awareness about women's right and to empower the female students.
- To conduct orientation programmes, seminars and workshops to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available for women in the society.
- To conduct awareness programmes on preventive measures of female health issues.
Action Plan
- All the girl students will be made aware about the guidelines and the safety measures by Members of Women Empowerment and Anti-Harassment Cell.
- A mail ID is to be generated regarding eve teasing, and problem arising in campus and hostels.
- A session will be conducted by women achievers of different fields to motivate the girl students of Gnanamani College of Technology.
- Provision of girls’ common room.
- Appointment of lady doctor in college campus to look after health issues of girl students.
- Arrangement of a session with resourceful support of renowned Doctors on health issues.
- Conduct of workshops on employability skills.
Outcome
- Female students will be enabled to realize their potential and power in socio economic and political spheres of life.
- Female Students will acquire empowerment in the holistic development of the society and the nation.
- Female students will acquire a respectful civilization and gender equality in the society
Procedure For Lodging Complaint
- The students may feel free to put up a grievance in Email to the respective committee in charge.
- The Empowerment Cell will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents.
- The Empowerment Cell will assure that the grievance has been properly solved in a stipulated time limit provided by the cell.
