National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in 1969 with the objective of developing the personality and character of students through voluntary community service. The guiding principle of NSS is “Education through Service,” which emphasizes learning by serving society.
- To create a society in which young people actively engage in community service and contribute to social development.
- To develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service, while promoting social responsibility, leadership, and a spirit of service towards society.
To understand the community in which they work.
To understand themselves in relation to their community.
To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among volunteers.
To apply their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
To develop the skills required for group living and sharing responsibilities.
To gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
To acquire leadership qualities and a democratic attitude.
To develop the capacity to respond to emergencies and natural disasters.
To promote national integration and social harmony.
